Open Letter / by James Lockwood

The first 12 years of Lockwood Bros. has been a roller coaster ride of loss and profit, failures and successes and relationships lost and gained.  Global economic markets aside, there have been challenges and opportunities in the western Canadian construction market that has required us to adapt and change to the needs of our clients, always keeping in mind that every client has unique needs, expectations, knowledge and experience.  While profit MUST be made at the end of the day, we recognize that it cannot be at the expense of good working relationships.  The ability to work openly and harmoniously with our clients, staff and suppliers WILL lead to a successful project.

So, why can’t we all just get along?  Markets are improving, energy infrastructure improvements are on-line, commercial and industrial investments are strengthening.  There is enough work for those who are willing to work for it.  Big business, we want to work with you, not for you, let us contribute.  Small business, we understand the demands of family business, let’s work together.

With the continued support of our staff, suppliers and customers, Lockwood Bros. will continue to provide a diverse range of precast-related services to the construction industry. With frank, open dialogue with our clients, Lockwood Bros. will continue to satisfy expectations.

When we started Lockwood Bros. in 2002, my father regularly reminded me ‘work smarter, not harder’.  These days, we need both.
